PRESS RELEASE:
The US Department of Agriculture estimates that it takes $190,000 to raise a child. With food and gas prices continuing their upward trend and home values still down, it is increasingly important for families to recoup some of the money spent raising their kids. People are looking to find a better alternative to community garage sales. They want to earn back more for their quality, gently-used items.
Jennifer Allen, Cindy Fentress, Anne Jessup and Traci Lewis heard the needs and desires of their fellow St. Johns County families and responded. They formed a partnership in early 2009 and are excited to introduce their first seasonal consignment sale specializing in children’s items, Kids-Go-Round.
“This sale is all about keeping down the costs of growing up,” said Allen. “With two children of my own, I understand the need for families to stretch their hard earned dollars and welcome the chance to help my friends and neighbors make money cleaning out their children’s closets!”
Kids-Go-Round will feature great deals on name-brands clothing and toys such as Gymboree, GAP, Laura Ashley, Strasburg, Little Tikes, Fisher Price and others. But the sale will also carry store brands such as Target, Kohl’s and JC Penny. “Our only requirement,” says Fentress, “is that the items be in excellent condition. Our goal is to provide a venue for families to shop for children’s items at a fraction of retail prices.”
Kids-Go-Round is scheduled for September 24-26 at the Faith Community Church, three miles west of I-95 on County Road 210. “This three-day sale is a must for all parents, grandparents and soon-to-be folks,” said Jessup. “ Shoppers will find boys’ and girls’ clothing, toys, books, linens, uniforms and sports gear, maternity items, furniture, strollers, baby/child gear, and more, all under one roof.”
The sale also benefits those less fortunate. Many items not sold are donated to charity and this year, Kids-Go-Round has partnered with Hubbard House and The Monique Burr Foundation for Children to disperse donated, unsold items. “Both are great charities that fill a growing need in and around Jacksonville,” says Lewis.
